Biography

Visual Biography, an essay on the eyes behind the lens. My life and my journey with photography and light since 2011. Lessons I learned that changed my perspective with each revelation. With each new challenge and ways that photography helped me to improve as a person and as a professional.

Biography – About me

I was born in 87 & lived most of my life in Peniche. Although I try to move, there is something special about this place that always makes me come back. The ocean, the views, the way the light touches this corner of the earth… All of this & more feeds my love and attachment to this beautiful city and gives me the feeling of being very lucky to be born here. Besides my love for this city & photography, I also love food and cooking, yoga, animals, and being outdoors. Traveling & discovering new places is always in my mind. I believe in the power of ❤️and being authentic, positive, and hopeful.

I became a self-taught person after my degree in Educational Sciences from the University of Coimbra (2009), and since then learning is always part of my days. From photography back in the beginning to the world of Digital Marketing, web design, SEO, and Social media management since 2020.

My journey with photography started in 2011 working with studio portraits & events at a local photography shop. After realizing that my passion was all about capturing natural light and outdoor sessions I worked with several local surf camps capturing surfers riding their first waves.

Then I decided to create my path as a freelancer photographer & explore different areas like publicity & product photography. I love the challenge of having diverse subjects. To me, the world and all its possibilities are too big to narrow them into just a single area. I prefer to meet the client’s needs meanwhile I develop & improve constantly my skills.

3 Life lessons I have learned from photography

The duality of life

Photography showed me that everything in life is a duality. Light & shadow, movement & stillness, feminine & masculine energy, and so many more dichotomies exist and show us that there are always 2 ways of understating our reality.

It´s all about the perspective

Our senses, what we see, and how we see it are mostly of the times an illusion. It all depends on our perspective, the position we are in at a specific time, and our beliefs. Move and change often the angles and your perspective will for sure change.

We all are unique

Like many photographers, I struggle with finding my signature as a professional. Should I follow the trends? Should I do as the other does? I found that comparing my work with others is good only to get inspiration. The true goal must be always to give your unique view and to be authentic & honest with everyone who crosses your path. We are all unique and it´s the diversity that exists that makes our world so special.

I love to connect with others & share experiences so feel free to send me a message on the Contacts page or find me on my Instagram
